President and Chief Executive Officer of Inheritance Capital Group, LLC, is a leading private equity investor and developer of commercial and residential real estate. Since
founding ICG in 2005, Shumake has expertly achieved financing for all types of ventures; from small business to mortgage loans, commercial leasing, and specialized projects. His company
currently owns a real estate portfolio of nearly 3 million square feet and over 200 million dollars.
Prior to his success at ICG, Shumake was Owner and President of First Equity Holdings, where he oversaw the management and sale of 85% of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) inventory in Michigan. Following his accomplishments at FEH, Shumake was awarded a Presidential appointment to the Federal Home Loan Bank Board of Directors.
During his tenure as a director, Shumake presided over the Affordable Housing Committee and
Finance Committee in Michigan and Indiana. He also received two Michigan (Republican and
Democratic) gubernatorial appointments for the Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons,
where he was responsible for the regulation and licensure of real estate professionals, and the
Governor’s Council for Health and Fitness.
In addition to President and CEO of Inheritance Capital Group, LLC, Robert Shumake is CEO of
Shumake Global Partners, L3C, a provider of socially beneficial services in the areas of energy,
healthcare and finances.
Shumake is an active supporter of youth, both as a mentor and as a philanthropist. When he’s
not using his expertise to inspire and motivate future generations through various speaking
engagements, he is orchestrating fundraising events to ensure that they are viable citizens. The
Robert Shumake Scholarship Relays, a division of the Shumake Family and Friends Foundation,
has provided over 30 college scholarships since its inception in 2005. As well as local initiatives,
Shumake’s foundation sponsors several global humanitarian projects focused on the pursuit of
improved education and overall betterment of life.
Shumake’s book “For Entrepreneurs Who Considered Suicide When Business Got Tough!” is in its
third printing, proving to be a valuable coaching tool for individuals as they stretch towards their
dreams and aspirations amid the struggles of doing business. He is also equally effective in
spoken word, hosting his own television and radio shows, “Necessary Business” and “Take the
Land”.
Robert S. Shumake holds an Honorary Doctorate from Lewis College of Business in Detroit. He is
an esteemed member of the National Association of Factoring Professionals and the American
Cash Flow Association. He has been honored with numerous awards, including but not limited
to; the Rising Star Award from the National Urban League and the African-American Male
Empowerment Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Detroit City Council. In 2012, Shumake
earned the title of Honorary Consul General of Botswana and Tanzania. He is also
Shumake’s success has been driven by his philosophy of life: “I always want to promote the
‘Double Bottom Line’; make a profit in business and make a difference in the community.”
